Meet DJ Ed Meade
Hi! I’m Ed Meade, owner, DJ and Emcee with Class Act Productions & Entertainment. I turn events into unforgettable experiences. With over 38 years of professional DJ and emcee expertise, I know how to create the perfect soundtrack, guide the flow of your celebration seamlessly, and keep every guest engaged from start to finish. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, reunion, or private party, you get my full attention, energy, and creativity, not a rotating cast of DJs from a large company.
What sets me apart is my ability to read a room and adapt on the fly. I mix timeless hits, iconic classics, and innovative mashups to craft a musical journey that’s uniquely yours. Every transition, announcement, and beat is timed to perfection, creating moments that feel effortless while keeping the energy flowing all night long.
My experience goes beyond music. I spent 14 years as a Disney Fairytale Wedding & Event DJ, delivering world-class entertainment with precision, timing, and magic. In addition, as a Certified Bridal Consultant with the Association of Bridal Consultants for 10 years, I understand the intricacies of planning a flawless wedding or event — from timing and logistics to guest experience. This combination of entertainment mastery and planning expertise ensures your celebration runs smoothly and memorably.

My Story...
My journey in the music and entertainment world began right out of high school. I attended Radio and Television Broadcasting School at the Connecticut School of Broadcasting in Boston, Massachusetts, where my passion for music quickly turned into real-world experience. Before I even completed my schooling, I landed an internship at Boston’s #1 radio station, WXKS Kiss 108 FM, working as a morning show producer for the legendary Matty in the Morning Show. I went on to produce and help mix the lunch-hour workout mix show alongside iconic DJ and Program Director Sunny Joe White, an experience that helped shape my instincts for pacing, energy, and mixing music.
At the same time, in 1988, I launched my mobile DJ business, originally known as Class Act DJ, which later evolved into Class Act Productions, and eventually Class Act Productions & Entertainment. While building my brand in the Boston market, I had the honor of DJing events for several notable individuals, including Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis, NBA Hall of Famer and Boston Celtics legend Dave Cowens, and Undisputed Middleweight Boxing Champion, Marvelous Marvin Hagler.
In 1992, I relocated to Vero Beach, Florida, where I re-established Class Act Productions and quickly became the most highly recommended DJ in the region. I was proud to be placed on the preferred vendor lists of every major country club, yacht club, and hotel in the area. One of those venues was Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, where I was honored to be one of only two DJs permitted to work on property. That relationship opened the door to working at multiple venues throughout Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL as part of Disney’s Fairytale Weddings & Events division, which further sharpened my commitment to flawless execution, professionalism, and creating magical moments.
During my time in Vero Beach, I was also honored to be a preferred DJ at Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s Costa d’Este Resort & Spa, adding to a portfolio of upscale, high-expectation events. In addition to my performance experience, I spent 10 years as a Certified Wedding Consultant with the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC), giving me a deep understanding of event flow, timelines, logistics, and client communication. From 2010 through 2020, my work was recognized with multiple WeddingWire Couples’ Choice Awards and Best of The Knot Awards, reflecting consistent client satisfaction and trust.
In 2020, my wife and I made the move to the Nashville area (Franklin, TN) after several years of traveling to Nashville to run the St. Jude Rock ’n’ Roll Nashville Half Marathon. We are proud St. Jude Heroes Ambassadors, having spent over a decade running, fundraising, and raising awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Together, we’ve helped raise nearly $100,000 in support of their life-saving mission. Nashville’s deep love of live music and creative energy made it feel like home long before we officially moved.
Since relocating to Middle Tennessee, I’ve had the privilege of DJing for several notable figures, including legendary songwriter Steve Dorff, who has written over 50 number-one hits, country singer-songwriter Phil Vassar, and country radio personality Blair Garner, who spent more than two decades as the nationally syndicated host of After MidNite with Blair Garner on iHeartRadio.
Alongside Class Act Productions & Entertainment, many people also know me by my DJ persona, DJ Special Ed, a name that was not self-given, but bestowed upon me years ago by a nightclub manager (and, admittedly, far more memorable than “DJ Ed”). Under that name, I produce high-energy DJ mixes and creative mashups, building a global audience with over 11,300 followers and 4.5 million streams on SoundCloud, along with more than 4,000 followers and 330,000 streams on Mixcloud.
